Hello! I'm Zoë- thank you so much for visiting the website! I run things here at Royally Radiant, which I'm sure you've guessed after seeing my face a couple dozen times across the site. Everything, from website design to performance, as well as the hundreds of things that come in between, I manage it all at Royally Radiant- all while obtaining my bachelors degree at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH!
I provided the Wayfinder for a company in NY for about 3 years before I made the decision to move to another state. Rather than hunt for another company to work under, I decided to take the opportunity to put my own standards at the forefront of my work.
I took the entertainment skills I had developed, my many semesters of business classes, my mother's pristine example of solo entrepreneurship, my background in afterschool education, all the values I had come to hold close to my heart in "princessing", and almost 2 decades of musical theatre experience, and started Royally Radiant!
The biggest push to start Royally Radiant was the desire to give back to the community I grew up in. As a performer, I didn't get to decide what communities princesses would make appearances in. It was a rarity that I would be able to provide a magical experience for children who looked like me or who grew up similarly to how I did.
Children who may also be regarded as "too" something- too imaginative, too sensitive, too loud, too "dark", or too much- those children deserve representation too. And what better way to provide them with that than through their favorite characters- some of whom share their favorite features- on the inside and sometimes on the outside too.
There are several companies across the world that offer "transcendent" princesses. This is a term in the character entertainment industry used to describe when a royal, who isn't depicted as a character of color, is provided by someone who is. "Radiant Portrayal" is the phrase we use to describe how we offer our royals.
Meeting children who are thrilled that their favorite royal does actually look like them is an experience I wouldn't trade for the world, and the fact that it's my occupation is an incredible gift. It's an honor to entertain children, and it's an honor to represent to children that their features- their hair color, hair texture, love for silliness, tendencies for shyness, love for art, or the color of their skin, are all features that make them... Royally Radiant!
"Moana, you're my favorite princess. Well I mean- I say all of the princesses are my favorite, but you're my really favorite because you're brown, like me!"
